Twitter user @sushiwalrus tweeted, “Sadly MTV doesn’t care about morals. All publicity is good publicity for them. After all Amber was kept on the show when she was physically abusing someone. Why would they remove her for offensively talking about abuse?”

Simon and the Teen Mom fans agreed that Amber’s views on domestic violence are ridiculous, but they disagree on the helpfulness of the show itself and Amber’s life in the spotlight. While some viewers feel that the show is a bad influence, Simon has advocated for the hit reality series, claiming that Portwood is in a position of influence and power, saying she should just take her role in the lives of young people everywhere more seriously.
