In her memoir, Read Between The Lines: Diary of a Teenage Mom, Jenelle recalled using a lot of drugs during her relationship with Kieffer.
“I did a lot of heroin and weed,” she wrote in the memoir. “That was all I did. Just smoked and shot up and laid around chillin.”
Only around a week into this drug-heavy lifestyle, Jenelle woke up on the bathroom floor only to discover she had overdosed on heroin.
“I had no idea how long I was out or what I did during the time,” she wrote. “It was scary, not knowing. I asked Kieffer why I was lying on the f*cking floor. Kieffer sid I passed out.”
Jenelle demanded why Kieffer didn’t take her to the hospital if he knew that she had passed out while on heroin. But all Kieffer had to say was “Sometimes that happens.”

“He meant that it was just a thing that happens on heroin,” Jenelle wrote in her memoir. “Sometimes you just blackout. Sometimes you lie around on the bathroom floor while your boyfriend enjoys his high… Sometimes you go down and you don’t get back up.”
This incident was a huge wakeup call for Jenelle, who soon checked into a hospital for detox. Jenelle has since cleaned up, but Kieffer didn’t follow in her footsteps. According to a local news source the Post-Gazette, Kieffer was arrested after police discovered that he was operating a meth lab in January 2018.
“Police received multiple complaints about a possible meth lab in the basement apartment and had been investigating it for a few weeks,” according to the outlet. “Upon conducting a search warrant, they found items and chemicals to substantiate the claim.”
